Sam Raimi’s Classic 1990 Action Film DARKMAN is Getting The 4K Treatment — GeekTyrant
Dec 20, 2023
Sam Raimi’s Darkman is one of the craziest and most awesome comic book films ever made and it wasn’t even based on a comic book. He just took that sensibility and translated it into movie form, and the result was such an incredibly fun movie! Well, the movie is finally getting the 4K treatment and will be released on 4K Ultra HD next year thanks to Scream Factory. It will be released on February 20, 2024, with optional SteelBook and Shout! exclusive bundles. The various editions include prism stickers, posters, and lobby cards, and you can check out all the available offerings on Scream Factory’s website. The movie follows Dr. Peyton Westlake, a brilliant scientist, who is brutally attacked and left for dead by a criminal gang. Miraculously, Westlake survives but is horribly disfigured. Seeking revenge against those who wronged him, he uses his scientific skills to develop a synthetic skin that allows him to create disguises. This newfound ability allows Westlake to take on the persona of Darkman, a vigilante seeking justice while grappling with his own inner turmoil. The film is known for its dark and atmospheric tone, and does a great job blending elements of horror and superhero genres, and for its unique portrayal of a tormented protagonist. Darkman stars Liam Neeson in the lead role, and if you’ve never watched it… where have you been!? There have also been talks of a sequel happening. You can listen to us talk about Darkman on our Secret Level podcast.
