Sauron Has Returned In Prime Video’s Hit Series
May 14, 2024
A lot of hype surrounded the debut of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Prime Video. The series is reportedly the most expensive in history (when you include the cost of the rights and all that), and it’s a new story set in the world of Tolkien’s classic fantasy series. And the result was, well…fine. It had a lot of viewers and was seemingly a hit for Prime Video, but it didn’t have the same sort of excitement that the “Game of Thrones” prequel did. But here we are, with Season 2 of ‘Rings of Power’ coming at the end of the summer. And perhaps now is the time when the show will dominate.

As seen in the teaser trailer for Season 2 of ‘The Rings of Power,’ the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series picks up where Season 1 left off. Now, Sauron has returned and he’s going to wreak havoc as he does everything in his formidable power to get the Rings of Power created. Interestingly, the teaser seems to focus heavily on the massive battles and action seen in the series. That’s one of the criticisms of Season 1–the lack of action. But now that the table is set, we can get to the main course, right?
“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 is set to debut on Prime Video on August 29. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:
Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.
