The MCU is not short on superheroes with powers that make them practically invincible, and the Secret Invasion finale has caused a dilemma for the future of the Marvel franchise by creating a character that surpasses the might of every other hero in the franchise. Having teased the existence of “The Harvest,” a collection of DNA taken from Earth’s mightiest heroes, the finale of the Disney+ series saw Emliia Clarke’s G’iah being given a super-power makeover that could cause a problem for the MCU’s future stories.

Secret Invasion gave Nick Fury his own TV series, allowing his character to finally be developed in a way that is impossible to do during any of the movies he has appeared in. Samuel L. Jackson embodies the character with ease, and like most Disney+ Marvel shows, he is left in almost the same position as he started in by the time the credits rolled on the finale. However, G’iah, daughter of Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos, has gone from pretty much new character to the mightiest character in the franchise.

In one of the climactic scenes of the series, G’iah disguises herself as Fury and pays a visit to Gravik. After handing over the Harvest, both Skrulls are exposed to the DNA properties of multiple superheroes via the Super Skull machine, and the ensuing fight between them allows the pair to show many attributes of the likes of Drax, Hulk, Abomination, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and more. After G’iah kills Gravik, she is then left standing as the mightiest hero on Earth.

How Can the All-Powerful G’iah Fit into the MCU?

So far, there has been no indication of where Emilia Clarke’s G’iah could make her next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with such a crowded field of heroes on hand, is there a place for what is essentially a brand new character who has a little piece of so many others in her?

Emilia Clarke certainly seemed to be up for making her character a permanent fixture in the MCU, and when her casting in Secret Invasion was originally announced, she even suggested that she would love to see G’iah last for as long as her Game of Thrones stint. She said:

“I mean, I should be so lucky is what I’ll say to that. Everyone I know and everyone I’ve spoken to who is a part of the Marvel universe – and actors talk! Everyone has only the highest praise to offer. There’s a reason why actors stay in it. They’re so loved because they’re having loads of fun. So I’m down for that.”

One big problem for Marvel is that they have a growing number of “invincible” characters on their books, including Captain Marvel, the Hulk, the potential return of Scarlet Witch and the upcoming inclusion of X-Men’s Wolverine. In many ways this should be a good thing, but it takes away much of the jeopardy of the films when there is always someone on hand to sweep in and save the day. It will be interesting to see how Marvel Studios handle such a powerful new character, or whether they already have a plan to retcon G’iah’s glow-up before her next appearance.
