Selena Gomez, Rare Beauty’s Israel/Palestine Controversy

Some further compared Selena’s “neutral” post with what she had said about the conflict in Ukraine: “The horrifying and senseless unprovoked attacks on Ukraine continue with more innocent people dying, cities destroyed, and families being torn apart for absolutely no reason but one man’s greed.” She further pledged to donate money to UNICEF.Some even went as far as to call for a boycott of Rare Beauty, claiming that the Rare Beauty CEO followed the IDF and other pro-Israel accounts on Instagram (his account is now private, so BuzzFeed has been unable to verify the validity of the claims). IDF stands for Israel Defense Forces, i.e. Israel’s military.
