own movie within James Gunn’s DC Universe.
With James Gunn’s Superman well into production, its cast has had to get into phenomenal shape to portray some of DC’s most iconic characters. Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), and María Gabriela De Faría (Angela Spica), along with Jennifer Holland (who will portray Emelia Harcourt in the DCU, but not in Superman) have all taken to Instagram to show off their hard work behind the scenes.
The photo was shared by celebrity trainer Paolo Mascitti (who also worked with David Corenswet for the film’s titular role), and shows the four actresses and Mascitti posing beside a weights station. View the full photo below:
Mascitti is a long-time partner of James Gunn’s, working with various actresses in the director’s DC movies, including Flula Borg and Daniela Melchior for The Suicide Squad. In the post’s caption, Mascitti also teased that Isabela Merced had missed the group workout. Merced also appears in Gunn’s Superman as Hawkgirl.
This is the second workout photo Mascitti has shared featuring Superman’s cast. Following the first look of David Corenswet as Superman, Mascitti shared a photo of the actor after a gym session, showcasing his impressive Man of Steel physique. Corenswet’s Superman has a different build than Henry Cavill’s (who last played Clark Kent on the big screen). In Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe, Cavill’s Superman was a mountain of muscle. Snyder has previously stated that he wanted his iterations of Superman and Batman (Ben Affleck) to look like bruisers. Corenswet’s Clark Kent is embracing a more athletic, although still very muscular, physique.
How Rachel Brosnahan, Sara Sampaio & María Gabriela De Faría Will Fit Into James Gunn’s Superman
Superman (2025) Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman is the first movie in Warner Bros.’ rebooted DC Universe to center around the titular comic book hero. It introduces a new version of the Man of Steel after Henry Cavill’s departure from the role, honoring the character’s roots as “the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way.”Release Date July 11, 2025
Of the four actresses in the photo, three have been confirmed to appear in James Gunn’s Superman. Rachel Brosnahan was one of the first actors cast in the movie, and will be playing Lois Lane, the reporter for the Daily Planet, and romantic interest of Clark Kent. Sara Sampaio’s Eve Teschmascher will also directly tie into the film’s plot, as the personal assistant, and romantic interest, of Lex Luthor (played by Nicholas Hoult).
Related Who or What Is Attacking Metropolis in The First Image of James Gunn’s Superman The first image of David Corenswet as Superman also revealed a mysterious being attacking Metropolis, here are five different DC villains it could be.
María Gabriela De Faría’s inclusion in the film is the most interesting. Faria plays Angela Spica, a.k.a. the Engineer. Spica is a member of The Authority, a secret group of heroes who are willing to cross the morality spectrum to get the job done, unlike DC’s more conventional heroes. The Authority are getting their own movie in Gunn’s DCU, so it will be exciting to see how Spica ties into Superman.
Jennifer Holland is the only actress in the photo who is not confirmed to appear in Gunn’s Superman. Holland has already made her DC debut, portraying Emilia Harcourt in the Peacemaker series. Gunn has confirmed that Season 1 of the hit show isn’t canon in his new DC Universe. However, season 2, which Holland will be returning for, is canon to the franchise’s reboot.
