Oct 20, 2023
Netflix is returning to South Carolina.
The streaming giant has handed out a fourth-season renewal to Sweet Magnolias, the romantic drama about three lifelong best friends starring JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley.
The series, which dropped its third season in July, landed at the top of Netflix’s English-language TV charts. To date, all three seasons of the series based on Sherryl Woods’ novels of the same name have ranked in Netflix’s Global Top 10 lists for 10 weeks across more than 60 countries.
Season four will again consist of 10 episodes. Sheryl J. Anderson (Ties That Bind) will return as showrunner and exec produces alongside Dan Paulson and author Woods.
Sweet Magnolias is part of what Netflix dubs its “comfort” lineup of lighter-themed scripted dramas that also includes Virgin River (renewed through season six), The Lincoln Lawyer (picked up through season three), Ginny & Georgia (seasons three and four in the works) as well as Firefly Lane and the anthology Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.
