Taylor Sheridan’s Female-Driven CIA Drama Premieres On Paramount+ On July 23
Jun 8, 2023
Taylor Sheridan already has a slew of series on Paramount+ like “Tulsa King,” “Mayor Of Kingstown,” and two “Yellowstone” spinoffs, “1883” and “1923.” And good news for “Yellowstone” fans: after its fifth season concludes, new episodes will premiere on Paramount+, too (along with yet another spinoff, “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” due later this year). But before that happens, Sheridan returns to a terrain he covered earlier in his career in the “Sicario” movies with another new series.

Sheridan returns to the world of shadowy black-ops in “Special Ops: Lioness,” a female-driven CIA drama about as far away from cowboys as possible. The star-studded series stars Zoe Saldaña as the head of The Lioness Program, a real US military program that serves as the speartip in the war on terror. Saldaña’s Joe recruits Laysla De Oliveira‘s aggressive Marine Cruz for a new mission: operating undercover to infiltrate a global terrorist network funded by power brokers. Will Cruz prove a valuable asset or too much of a hothead to get the job done? Nicole Kidman‘s Kaitlyn Meade, a CIA higher-up who acts as a liaison between agency and program, tracks Cruz’s progress with Joe, along with Donald Westfield, another state superior.
“Lioness” also stars Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Stephanie Nur, and Hannah Love Lanier. Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, and Sam Asghari, and Martin Donovan also have recurring roles in the series.
Sheridan executive produces the series with David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone, and John Hillcoat. MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios produce “Lioness” for Paramount+.
So will “Special Ops: Lioness” be another smash hit for Taylor Sheridan? With its star power and intriguing story, this show is a sure bet to be one of the most popular to premiere this summer. “Special Ops: Lioness” premieres on Paramount+ on July 23. Watch a teaser for the series below.
