The Conversation Collectors Edition Set Review
Jul 11, 2024
STUDIOCANAL kindly sent us this The Conversation Collectors Edition set to unbox and review to mark the film’s 50th anniversary.
This 4K restoration of a modern classic starring Gene Hackman is available from July 15th.
In a rigid case inside consists of a Blu-ray and 4K version of the film, two posters, a booklet outlining various details of the film including behind-the-scenes shots and a very clever cassette tape featuring The Conversation motion picture soundtrack.
The film revolves around Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) who is a surveillance private eye but one particular job lands him in a heap of trouble as he tries to determine if his latest job could put people’s lives in danger.
A 4K restoration of this film that was released in the 70s and what a mighty fine job they’ve done too as the images are crisp and easy on the eye and the audio has been beautifully restored.
The Conversation 50th Anniversary remaster looks like it could have been shot last week, beautifully put together in a nice collectors set to be enjoyed.
Having the new 50th Anniversary poster alongside the classic Paramount poster is a nice touch and whilst the cassette tape is a clever idea I don’t have any device which can play tapes anymore so that’s a shame.
I know you can buy tape to digital machines nowadays but I’d rather not pay extra money just to listen to the soundtrack so whilst clever the practicality of having the tape with the soundtrack on becomes a little redundant.
For me, this particular set is a little overpriced for what you get. I felt the Wicker Man version had much better value to it because £60 for essentially a Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, two posters, a booklet and cassette tape seems steep.
Why don’t you make up your own mind and if you do want one for yourself you can currently purchase them on Amazon available HERE.

To some, the original Anaconda is a 90s cult classic. To others, it’s a so bad, it’s good guilty pleasure. To me, it’s just a bad movie. Not awful, but as weird as it sounds, Anaconda wasn’t quite over-the-top enough…
