2025 will be a big year for The Fantastic Four as Marvel is looking to have the characters make their grand MCU debut. In anticipation, the superhero family are also set to arrive on one of the most popular new video games on the market, Marvel Rivals. Marvel Rivals is a third-person hero shooter game featuring a wide array of Marvel heroes ranging from popular names like Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Wolverine to lesser-known names like Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow, and Squirrel Girl. Fans have been eagerly awaiting which heroes would join the game next, and it looks like, in a nice bit of brand synergy to build excitement for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s first family is joining the game.
Marvel Rivals revealed the first look at the Fantastic Four as they will appear in the game on their official X account. The initial post (see below) features the four members of the Fantastic Four in white costumes with blue accents flying in the Fantastic-Car near the Baxter Building joined by H.E.R.B.I.E., all features that will appear in the MCU’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. The trailer for Marvel Rivals Fantastic Four addition will debut on Jan. 6, 2025.
The costumes of the Marvel Rivals version of The Fantastic Four have a lot in common with the costumes set to be worn by their MCU counterparts, particularly the mixture of blue and white as opposed to most popular depictions of the suit that favor a black and blue color scheme. It is highly likely The Fantastic Four will be added to Marvel Rivals a few months before The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in theaters to help build anticipation for the film. Fans can likely expect all four team members to have alternate MCU-inspired skins, as Marvel Rivals already has MCU-inspired costumes for heroes like Thor, Namor, and Adam Warlock, to name a few.
The Fantastic Four Could Dominate 2025

The Fantastic Four being prominently featured in Marvel Rivals is a big deal for the characters. Despite being the team of heroes that laid the foundation for the Marvel Universe to be built on, for nearly a decade, Marvel downplayed the character’s importance in mass media due to the film rights being held by 20th Century Fox, with The Fantastic Four and the villains and supporting characters being left out of merchandise and licensed products. Fans of Mister Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing watched as their favorite heroes were looked over and excluded from many big Marvel projects. But not anymore, as the characters are being put in front and center.

If 2024 was Marvel’s Year of the X-Men, with the combined release of X-Men ’97 and Deadpool & Wolverine, between the team arriving in Marvel Rivals and the release of First Steps, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of The Fantastic Four.
