‘1923’ & ‘It Ends with Us’ Star Says Playing Batman in the DCU Would Be “A Dream”

Yellowstone spin-off and It Ends with Us star Brandon Sklenar

continues to campaign for the role of Batman in James Gunn’s DCU, calling the role “a dream.” The actor, who has become a popular fancast for the role of Bruce Wayne in the planned reboot The Brave and the Bold, is confident in his ability to play The Dark Knight, telling The Playlist recently that he’s “built for it.”

“I’ve seen a bunch of fan-casting for this Batman thing [“The Brave & The Bold”] and that’s very interesting to me, I love Batman. That would be a dream, for sure. But we’ll see what happens, I’m built for it.

It would have to be the right thing at the right time.”

Set to be directed by It and The Flash director Andy Muschietti, The Brave and the Bold will introduce audiences to another version of the DC icon alongside Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, with the DCU movie adding Damian Wayne’s version of Robin to proceedings. The father/son dynamic between Bruce and Damian will certainly be something new for audiences, and while Sklenar is hoping he will be the one chosen to don the cape and cowl, it could be some time before we see the rebooted Batman in live-action on the big screen.
Brandon Sklenar Responds to Rumors About a Role in the MCU

This is far from the first time that Brandon Sklenar has put himself forward for the role of Batman in the DCU. The actor, who is best known for his role as Spencer Dutton in the Yellowstone spin-off 1923 as well as Emily the Criminal, Midway, and It Ends with Us, recently responded on social media to fan art of himself standing alongside David Corenswet’s Superman simply saying, “I approve.” We currently have no idea who will star as Batman in the DCU, but the likes of Reacher star Alan Ritchson, Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles, and The Invisible Man star Oliver Jackson-Cohen have either put themselves forward or tend to top the list of fan-favorites for the role of Bruce Wayne alongside Sklenar.

Another role that Brandon Skelnar finds his name next to is that of Richard Rider, AKA Nova, who will (hopefully) soon lead his own series as part of the MCU. The series, which has faced a series of delays, has now taken a major step forward and appointed Ed Bernero as writer and showrunner. Asked about the rumors surrounding his attachment to the Marvel series, Sklenar replied…

“Yeah, I heard about that. It was news to me. I think I was supposed to meet with [Marvel Studios/Marvel Television] at some point here…with [Kevin] Feige. We’ll see that would be cool.”

The word Nova should be familiar to MCU fans, with the Nova Corps. having played a part in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. The Disney+ series, Nova, is expected to center on Richard Rider, a human who is chosen to inherit the powers and rank of Nova Prime, which imbues him with super strength, speed, flight, and more.
