“Honestly, I don’t know. I hope so. I hope so. So, please tell the people to send tweets and letters to Marvel because I would love to appear in the next movie, but I don’t really know.”
Huerta made his debut as beloved Marvel antihero Namor in the recent Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever follows Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje fighting to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together when a threat from beneath the sea led by Namor the Sub-Mariner brings war to their doorstep.
Huerta’s portrayal of Namor was met with much praise from both critics and audiences alike, with the actor expertly bringing the Golden Age Marvel character life on the big screen. Surviving the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor vows to conquer the surface world one day, with many wondering when he will return.

While Huerta either genuinely does not know or is simply playing coy for fear of revealing any dreaded spoilers, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness has been far more open about Namor’s role in the MCU installment.
Loveness, who also wrote the script for the recent Phase 5 outing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has stated that the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever antagonist will play a role when The Avengers do battle with Kang the Conqueror. “Namor, man,” the writer said of adding the underwater rule to the Avengers sequel. “I’m excited to write Namor.”
Details of the plot for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty currently remain a mystery, but it is expected to see a new line-up of the superhero team do battle with The Council of Kangs, a group of hundreds (maybe even thousands) of Kang variants who wish to rule over the multiverse. Introduced during a post-credits scene at the end Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, every member of The Council of Kangs will be played by Jonathan Majors, with the latest Avengers line-up likely to consist of Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Shuri’s Black Panther, and more. How exactly Namor, who is well-known for switching sides, will factor into proceedings remains to be seen….
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025 as part of Phase Six of the MCU. The rest of the MCU Phase will include The Fantastic Four on February 14, 2025, Avengers: Secret Wars on May 1, 2026, and Deadpool threequel Deadpool 3 on November 8, 2024.
