The Wheel of Time Teases More Epic Adventures in Season 2 Trailer
Jul 30, 2023
After a long wait, The Wheel of Time returns to Prime Video screens on September 1st, and the show is getting fans ready for new epic adventures with the first trailer for new episodes of the hit series based on Robert Jordan’s books. Watch the new trailer for Season 2 below.
Released in 2021, the first season quite separated itself from the novel. However, it managed to surprise the audience with its amazing production design, sceneries, and characterization, getting quite close to what later subscribers to the streaming platform would enjoy in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
The Wheel of Time stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, Dónal Finn who replaces Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon in Season 2, Daniel Henney as Lan, Josha Stradowski as Rand, Madeleine Madden as Egwene, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin and Zoë Robins as Nynaeve. They will be joined by newcomers Guy Roberts, Arnas Fedaravicius, Gregg Chillingirian, and Ceara Covenay as Uno Nomesta, Masema, Ingtar Shinowa, and Elayne Trakand, respectively. Also, Natasha O’Keeffe and Meera Syal are added for the new season.
The Wheel of Time is produced by showrunner Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Rosamund Pike herself. The team also includes Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of Red Eagle Entertainment, and Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures.

What to Expect from The Wheel of Time Season 2
Amazon Prime Video
Just as the first part tried to follow the line of the first book in the saga, the second season will do the same with the second novel, The Great Hunt, and will also take some elements from the third one, The Dragon Reborn.
The new episodes will find the group of protagonists separated and in different places around the world, with Moiraine unable to help them, so each must find their inner strength and fight to survive as darker times loom on the horizon, with the Dark One gaining strength again.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Wheel of Time Season 2:
“Threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light… or the Dark.”
The medieval adventures will not end in the second installment, as the show has already been renewed for a third season. The Wheel of Time literary saga is made up of fifteen main books, a bunch of short stories and a few tales that work as prologue, so there’s a lot of source material for Amazon Studios to adapt.
Unfortunately, production of the next batch of episodes of the show is likely to take a while to start due to the current crisis in Hollywood, but fans of medieval fantasy will soon be able to enjoy the return of The Rings of Power, as the Lord of the Rings spinoff managed to finish shooting weeks before the start of the actors’ strike.
