Aug 30, 2023

Exclusive: Take a look at the official trailer for the Austin Film Festival darling Little Jar, a comedy co-written by and starring Kelsey Gunn.

Summary

Little Jar is a unique film that captures the feeling of isolation and loneliness with humor and wit, making it both relatable and funny. The movie, written by Dominic López and Kelsey Gunn, and directed by López, debuted at the Austin Film Festival and received positive reviews from both audiences and critics. Despite being made during the pandemic with a small budget and crew, Little Jar showcases the power of creativity and the ability to create something meaningful out of restrictions and limitations. It will be released digitally on September 12th.

According to early reviews, Little Jar is the rare film that makes an audience want to revisit early 2020. This time capsule of a movie is about isolation and loneliness but looks to express its oddball story with enough wit and humor to be just as funny as it is relatable. Little Jar was written by Dominic López and Kelsey Gunn, with López also directing the film and Gunn producing and starring in it.

Little Jar debuted at the Austin Film Festival in 2022 and won over audiences and critics alike. Screen Rant is happy to offer a first look at the trailer for the film, which displays not only what’s in store in Little Jar, but also the impressive collection of film festival laurels garnered by López, Gunn, and the rest of the team. More About Little Jar

As seen above, the story of Little Jar centers around Ainsley, a misanthropic woman who discovers she misses human connection only when isolation removes it entirely from her life. As Ainsley spirals into loneliness, she discovers a dead mouse in a jar she names Ulysses and dresses in a tux. Suddenly, Ainsley has a friend—even if that friend is a deceased rodent—and, through that relationship, begins to reevaluate her relationship with the world.

Just as engaging as the story of Little Jar is the story of the film’s creation. The movie was filmed mid-pandemic by friends who built a story around the restrictions of pandemic life. A five-person crew made the film at a single location in just two weeks on a shoestring budget. The fact that Little Jar has had the reception it has so far is a testament to the connective power of creativity and the human ability to make something out of nothing; with the film now set to be released digitally, the fruits of that labor will be ready for all to enjoy.

Little Jar will be available on digital platforms on September 12th.
