Tom Holland is known for being a serial spoilerer. The MCU star, who rose to fame after joining the franchise in Captain America: Civil War to give life to Spider-Man, has been one of the Marvel Studios celebrities who has revealed the most secrets regarding the always mysterious surprises of the films from the saga.

Earlier this month, his most recent project hit Apple TV+, titled The Crowded Room and it was another great opportunity for Holland to unveil the details behind the complex story the show presents. But he didn’t, and there’s a good reason for it.

While speaking with Screen Rant, the actor explained that the MCU spoilers are pretty basic, while shedding light on the mystery behind The Crowded Room was way more complicated and would definitely ruined the experience for the audience:

“Yeah, it’s interesting, the spoilers for the Marvel movies, they’re very basic. It’s, “Who’s the villain? What does the costume look like? Where’s the setting? What’s going on?” But what I love about this show, and why I’m so excited about it coming out, is that we have put together this mystery, [and] the mystery is going to be yours to try and solve. There are so many periods of this show where you can solve it before we tell you what it is. And I’m just really excited to see how fans react to this style of show, which is why I’m so careful as to not give anything away.”

What is The Crowded Room About?

Starring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried, The Crowded Room is set in 1979 New York, following the story of Danny Sullivan, a young man involved in a shooting. Through different interviews, the investigator Rya Goodwin will try to reconstruct the events outside of Sullivan’s mind to discover the truth.

However, the journey that both will take through the memories of the young man and his complicated life will lead them to discover a much deeper and darker secret, buried in his subconscious, that will change their lives forever.

The series is based on the 1981 book, The Minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes, about the case of the man of the title who was accused of various crimes and later diagnosed with multiple personality disorder.

The Crowded Room also stars Sasha Lane as Ariana, Will Chase as Marlin Reid, Lior Raz as Yitzak Safdie, and Emmy Rossum as Candy Sullivan.

The series marks Holland’s latest effort to break away from Peter Parker, dabbling in far more dramatic roles as he has already done in projects like the Russo brothers’ Cherry, Antonio Campos’ The Devil All the Time or even being part of some other franchises just like he tried to do with Uncharted. In any case, he will use the Spider-Man suit again in the fourth installment of the saga, although at the moment it does not have a release date.
