Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Timberlake Didn’t Argue Backstage at VMAs – The Hollywood Reporter
Sep 13, 2023
Social media was abuzz on Tuesday night over what seemed like a very lively discussion between Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake at the MTV Video Music Awards.
A short clip of Megan and Timberlake, which seemingly shows the pair arguing backstage at the VMAs, has gone viral. Megan is seen to be getting hair and makeup while Timberlake and the rest of *NSYNC walk past. There seems to be some brief words exchanged and Megan gesticulating in response.
Thankfully, the internet is wrong on this one and the incident was much ado about nothing. A source close to the situation tells The Hollywood Reporter that, “Meg loves Justin. She was saying “No, no, no, we’ve never met before. It was their first time meeting, and she was excited.”
Further confirmation that the incident was no big deal came from a report in Entertainment Tonight, with sources telling the outlet that Timberlake told Megan, “It’s so nice to meet you,” while Megan replied, “No no this don’t count, this don’t count, we gotta meet proper.”
Reps for the VMAs, Timberlake and Megan have not yet responded to THR‘s request for comment.
Timberlake was at the awards along with the other members of NSYNC as the shock presenters of the best pop prize. Nicki Minaj had introduced the band, including members Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, and called their reunion an “iconic moment.”
Megan took the stage a little while later with Cardi B, where the pair performed their new single “Bongos.”
Megan posted a video to her TikTok and Instagram accounts on Wednesday indicating that everything was good between her and Timberlake. In the clip, the two are smiling, laughing and talking while sitting next to each other.
“I just talk with my hands … lol @justintimberlake love ya,” Megan wrote in the caption.
In the comments, Timberlake added, “Real hot girl s—. Never change @theestallion.” They both featured heart emojis in their messages.
