More Set Images Tease Wolverine Versus Deadpool & Post-apocalyptic Fox Universe

Sep 14, 2023

Following the recent reveal of Logan star Hugh Jackman sporting a surprisingly comic book-accurate yellow and blue suit for his return as Wolverine in the upcoming MCU sequel, Deadpool 3, several more images from filming have now been revealed. Coming courtesy of Daily Mail, these latest images offer another look at Jackman’s new duds from all angles, as well as teasing a battle between Wolverine and Deadpool, and a post-apocalyptic take on the 20th Century Fox universe. Check out the images from the filming of Deadpool 3 below.

Ryan Reynolds, also sporting a wonderfully comic-accurate costume, was spotted filming alongside Hugh Jackman as production on Deadpool 3 takes place in the United Kingdom. The sequel sees Jackman reprise the role of Wolverine after seemingly ending his tenure as the X-Men character in 2017’s Logan. Reynolds has fought for some time to bring Deadpool and Wolverine together on the big screen, and he has finally gotten his way.

After the image of the pair walking along the beach landed yesterday, these latest images reveal that Deadpool and Wolverine will not see eye-to-eye in Deadpool 3, with Jackman lifting Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth high into the air before throwing him to the ground. Perhaps as a result of one of Deadpool’s patented quips.

Not only do the images give us another look at Jackman in his bright yellow superhero suit, they also tease what’s to come in Deadpool 3. One image in particular stands out, and appears to show a giant 20th Century Fox logo crumbled and lying in the dirt. While plot details for Deadpool 3 continue to remain a mystery, this certainly adds weight to the idea that both Deadpool and Wolverine will embark on a road trip and attempt to escape the Fox universe as it collapses under the weight of the madness of the multiverse.

Deadpool 3 Will Feature All Manner of Cameos
20th Century Fox

Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool 3 is set to star Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine alongside Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Stefan Kapičić as Colossus. The Crown star Emma Corrin will reportedly portray one of the villains of the piece, with Succession actor Matthew Macfadyen also joining the cast.

Deadpool 3 is expected to feature all manner of cameos from comic book movies past. And some of them are rather unexpected. It has been hotly rumored that Ben Affleck will reprise the role of Daredevil in the movie after the actor was reportedly spotted on set, with reports since revealing that his Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner will also appear in the role of Elektra. If the rest of the outings in the MCU multiverse are anything to go by, this is surely just the tip of the iceberg.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 3, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
