Wolverine Has Claws in the Latest Images From Deadpool 3
Sep 16, 2023
Wolverine has claws in the latest images from the filming of the upcoming MCU sequel, Deadpool 3, with returning actor Hugh Jackman once again wielding his adamantium blades as he and Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth trade blows. Coming courtesy of the Daily Mail (and shared to Twitter by users @VillainousComix and @DP3_news), the images show-off more of the battle between Deadpool and Wolverine, who will at last unite on the big screen when Deadpool 3 lands in theaters in 2024.
While it had been suggested by no less than Hugh Jackman himself that 2017’s Logan would be his final appearance as the beloved X-Men member, something that many were more than satisfied with thanks to the heartfelt conclusion given to his tenure as the Marvel character, it is impossible not to get excited seeing the actor with adamantium claws and sporting the classic yellow costume.
According to various reports, Deadpool 3 will make the most of having Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine, with the actor hinting at appearances from several Logan variants saying, “Yes, it will even be a dual role.” Alongside this, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has stated that Deadpool 3 will involve a whole lot of Wolverine and stating on social media; “Also, just FYI – this is WAY more of a Wolverine movie.”
Different versions of Wolverine are unlikely to be the only variants to appear in Deadpool 3, with rumors and reports revealing that the sequel will feature several familiar faces from Marvel movies past, including Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, and possibly even X-Men star Halle Berry as Storm.

The plot of Deadpool 3 remains under wraps, with the official synopsis for the MCU sequel offering nothing in terms of details. “Another chapter in the raunchy, violent, and of course, hilarious Deadpool series,” the synopsis reads. Despite this frustrating lack of information, it is expected that Deadpool 3 will follow Wade Wilson and Logan embarking on a road trip, with the pair likely being pursued by the Time Variance Authority and dealing with the madness of the multiverse.
Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool 3 is set to star Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine alongside Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Stefan KapiÄiÄ as Colossus. The Crown star Emma Corrin will reportedly portray one of the villains of the piece, with Succession actor Matthew Macfadyen also joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 3, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. The MCU saga continues to press on, with the likes of The Marvels, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Blade, Fantastic Four, and the Avengers outings Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars also on the horizon.
