Man of Steel’s 10th Anniversary Celebrated by Zack Snyder as The Flash Soft-Reboots The DCEU
Sep 30, 2023
The Flash may be set to give the DCU a soft reboot this weekend, but a decade ago the DCEU began with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. A reboot of the Superman franchise and the first chapter in the director’s planned universe, the film saw Henry Cavill step up to play the dual role of Clark Kent and Superman, and fans were instantly on board with his performance as the iconic comic book character. While things didn’t exactly go to plan further down the line, Snyder shared a Vero post in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the movie’s release on Wednesday. In the post Snyder commented:
“Thank you all for coming on this amazing journey with me #Manofsteel.”
The anniversary is another what might have been moment for all of those fans who wanted to see Snyder’s universe continue beyond Justice League. I another branch of the multiverse, who knows where it would have led, but here and now, the Synderverse is done and a new regime is ready to begin. That will be the brainchild of James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it involved a whole new roster of characters as well as a new Superman and Batman.
Of course none of that has stopped fans of Zack Snyder’s vision from jumping on social media yesterday to help celebrate the anniversary of what many hold as one of the best Superman movies out there.

What Does The Future Hold For Superman?
20th Century Fox/DC Comics/Netflix
Well, as far as anyone knows, the Synderverse has had its last outing and Henry Cavill’s Superman has gone with it, despite the attempt by Dwayne Johnson to bring him back into the fold in Black Adam. As the cornerstone of DC comics, Superman is always going to have a presence in the movies and TV shows that come next, the question is who will be playing him in his next big screen iteration?
James Gunn has so far remained tight-lipped over who will be taking over the role in Superman: Legacy, despite constant rumors of who is in and who is out. One thing that has been made clear by fans is that whoever does become the next to wear the cape of the Kryptonian has some very big shoes to fill, and there are going to be a lot of comparisons made when the first DCU movie lands in 2025.
For now, all eyes have turned to the arrival of The Flash, which originally would have seen Cavill making a cameo appearance before everything changed around the plans for the DCU’s evolution. With the movie sort of set to wipe clean the Snyder slate, there are obviously mixed feelings from those who have been pushing Synderverse hashtags wherever possible to no avail. The Flash seems to be teeing itself up as one of the best DC movies in the last decade, but whether it can truly live up to the hype is something we will see this weekend.
