American Horror Story Season 12 Gets Mixed Reviews
FX
American Horror Story has made a name for itself with its striking visuals and intense frights. The twelfth installment, titled American Horror Story: Delicate, continues this tradition. This season brings a change in leadership, with Halley Feiffer taking on the roles of both writer and showrunner, stepping into the shoes of Ryan Murphy. It also takes a departure from its earlier original narratives and instead draws inspiration from Danielle Valentine’s novel “Delicate Condition”.
Initial reviews for the season’s first episode have emerged, offering a mixed perspective. According to Angie Han from The Hollywood Reporter, while the debut is decent, it doesn’t quite achieve brilliance. However, there is hope for the series to head in a cleaner and more coherent direction, departing from its previous reputation for messy storytelling.
“In combination, they signal a potential for American Horror Story to head in a cleaner and clearer direction, away from its longstanding reputation for sloppy plotting — but not too far from its gift for building buzz, since the third standout element is the headline-worthy stunt casting of Kim Kardashian as Anna’s BFF and publicist Siobhan. But whether it has the ability to deliver on all that promise remains an open question by the end of a just-okay debut.”
“In American Horror Story: Delicate, after multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott wants nothing more than to start a family,” the official synopsis reads. “As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her – and her pursuit of motherhood. AHS: Delicate is the 12th installment of the award-winning anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.”
The series boasts a star-studded ensemble, including franchise regular Emma Roberts, alongside newcomers Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian. Joining them are notable names such as Michaela Jaé Rodriguez from Pose, Matt Czuchry from The Resident, Annabelle Dexter-Jones known for Succession, Odessa A’zion from Hellraiser, Julie White from Transformers, Debra Monk, and Denis O’Hare from True Blood. New episodes of AHS: Delicate will be airing every Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT on FX.
