Jerry Seinfeld Says ‘Something Is Going To Happen’ Involving the Controversial Seinfeld Finale

Oct 20, 2023

Summary

Seinfeld fans may finally get the reunion they’ve been waiting for, as Jerry Seinfeld hinted at something regarding the show’s controversial ending. Over the past 25 years, there have been various Seinfeld-related entertainment appearances, but a true authentic reunion has been missing. The form or format of the reunion is unknown, leaving fans to eagerly anticipate what Seinfeld and co-creator Larry David have planned.

Most fans will find what Jerry Seinfeld said in Beantown “sponge-worthy” information. 25 years ago, the Seinfeld television series ended its nine-season run on NBC with its oh-so controversial ending. Jerry, George (Jason Alexander), Kramer (Michael Richards) and Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) all find themselves left to rot in jail after breaking the Good Samaritan Law in Latham, Massachusetts. However, perhaps the beloved characters are finally getting a well-deserved reprieve. @linda_pizzuti wrote in an Instagram post featuring Jerry Seinfeld performing in Boston, Massachusetts:

At his Boston performance at the @bochcenter on Saturday night, Jerry Seinfeld hinted that he and Larry David were working on something regarding the ending of the Seinfeld Show. ‘Something is going to happen.’

During the video in question, Seinfeld is asked if he liked the ending of the show. Rather than answering the question with a simple “yes” or “no,” the comedian responds by telling the audience that he has “a little secret” in regard to the television show’s series finale. Check out the Instagram post in its entirety below to find out what he and Seinfeld co-creator Larry David have planned:

Is a Seinfeld Reunion in the Works?
NBC

Over the last 25 years, fans have been teased with Seinfeld-related entertainment. There have been those fun The Adventures of Seinfeld & Superman ads for American Express, to say nothing of Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza’s trip to the coffee shop in the Super Bowl XLVIII commercial. Plus, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander (in the aforementioned “Over-Cheer” Super Bowl spot) and Michael Richards have all joined Jerry on his streaming series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

However, enthusiasts of the “show about nothing” have never been afforded the true, authentic reunion the characters Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine so desperately deserve. Yes, it was delightful to see them all appear on co-creator Larry David’s HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm in season seven. But perhaps Jerry Seinfeld finally realizes that the diehard fans want to see the sitcom’s famous characters come together as a part of an authentic Seinfeld reunion.

Now, Seinfeld and the show’s co-creator, Larry David, definitely have something in the works to follow up the show’s series finale. But it’s impossible to know what form or format (TV, streaming, film, podcast, et cetera) that the presumed reunion will take. And for the time being, the hilarious “show about nothing” will have to suffice. All nine seasons of Seinfeld are available to stream and/or binge-watch right now on Netflix.
