It is almost three years since WandaVison brought the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the small screen on Disney+, but fans of the series – and the ever popular Elizabeth Olsen – have still not quite let go of the idea that there could be a second season in the offing. However, it seems that the upcoming 4K home video release of the series should finally put to rest the eternal question of whether WandaVision season 2 is happening or not.

It was recently announced that Disney are finally bringing some of their most popular Disney+ shows to physical media, with 4K releases of The Mandalorian, Loki and WandaVision. While The Mandalorian has had multiple seasons, and Loki is just about to unveil season 2 in October, WandaVision has remained a limited series, and while that was official to some, there have been questions raised even in recent interviews about whether a new season of WandaVision can happen. The Marvel Studios/Disney release of the show on physical media, under the title of “WandaVision: The Complete Series” now seems to have settled the debate for good, and those still hanging onto hope of another season can finally stand down.

Of course, things are never as simple as that, and even if WandaVision will not be retuning in name, there has already been a continuation of Wanda’s story in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Vision is expected to return in his own series of Vision Quest, and there is also spin-off series Agatha: Coven of Chaos coming soon to branch out from WandaVision.

Is Agatha: Coven of Chaos WandaVision Season 2?

There are few projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are truly stand-alone, and even those that are eventually find themselves being drawn into the overarching narrative of the MCU in some way. WandaVision, like many MCU Disney+ shows, acts as an optional chapter in the cinematic universe of Marvel Studios, telling a story within an almost self-contained bubble without making too many marks on the movies around it.

Those who want an all-encompassing view of their favorite Marvel heroes showing what happens to them between movies, then the likes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Secret Invasion and WandaVision have you covered. Upcoming series Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a show that goes even further in expanding the stories of characters that have so far played no part in a big screen adventure under the Marvel banner. However, for those who still really want to believe that WandaVision season 2 is a thing, then this could be as close as you are going to get, as star Debra Jo Rupp recently alluded to, saying:

“It’s the second season of ‘WandaVision’ for Marvel. It’s very much like ‘American Horror Story,’ where each season is a whole new kind of a thing. I was shocked when they called me, because I really thought that would be it, and I was fine with that. But when they called, I got so excited because it’s a character I never get to play. She’s gonna be great fun.”

WandaVision will release on Collector’s Edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray on November 29.
