Nov 28, 2023
The advantage of an anthology series is the freedom to explore variations on a theme. In Peacock’s “Dr. Death” anthology series, the show is about investigating ideas of systemic failures within the medical industry. These issues reach a global scale in season two: the pursuit of trust and truth ties the two stories together this season.

An entire new season means a new cast, and “Dr. Death” season two stars Edgar Ramírez, Mandy Moore, Luke Kirby, Ashley Madekwe, and Gustaf Hammarsten.
“Amid complex narratives, we’ve been fortunate to delve deeply into a story that, while entirely unique, remains surprisingly familiar, as it taps into a truly universal part of the human condition: illness,” the showrunner said in a statement. “Even putting aside any recent global pandemics, we all know what it’s like to feel sick. It renders us vulnerable, small, and in desperate need of help. A doctor we can trust.”The two stories center on 1) Doctors in Sweden on the verge of a breakthrough and 2) A journalist in New York falling in love. The seemingly small choices within each story ripple out into the world to give power and voice to those who have been made to feel powerless and silenced.
Here’s the official synopsis:
This season of Dr. Death, based on the hit Wondery podcast, follows “Miracle Man” Paolo Macchiarini, a charming surgeon renowned for his innovative operations. When investigative journalist Benita Alexander approaches him for a story, the line between personal and professional begins to blur, changing her life forever. As she learns how far Paolo will go to protect his secrets, a group of doctors halfway across the world make shocking discoveries of their own that call everything about Paolo into question.
This season, Ashley Michel Hoban is the main showrunner/writer/executive producer, with filmmakers Jennifer Morrison and Laura Belsey on board to direct. Exec producers also include Patrick Macmanus, Todd Black (Escape Artists), Jason Blumenthal (Escape Artists), Steve Tisch (Escape Artists), Taylor Latham (Escape Artists), Aaron Hart (Wondery), Hernan Lopez (Wondery), Marshall Lewy (Wondery), and Linda Gase.
All eight episodes of “Dr. Death” season two will be available to watch on December 21, 2023, via Peacock. Watch the new trailer below.
