Jonathan Nolan’s New Post-Apocalyptic Series Stars Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins & Hits April 2024

Dec 2, 2023

While you have names like Weiss and Benioff (“Game Of Thrones”), the Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”), and Noah Hawley (“Fargo”), there aren’t that many writers/directors/showrunner auteurs in television. However, one recent pair to surface is Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of “Westworld.” In the middle of their run on HBO’s “Westworld,” the pair signed a lucrative deal with Amazon Studios. Years later, the fruits of those labors are finally taking shape in “Fallout,” a post-apocalyptic drama television series based on the role-playing video game franchise created by Interplay Entertainment, now run by Bethesda Softworks.

A first look was revealed early last week, and today, at CCXP, Brazil’s massive fan and comic book convention, the official “Fallout” teaser trailer was unveiled during the series’ panel in São Paulo. The series mixes action and tongue-in-cheek gore within a twisted, post-apocalyptic setting.
Jonathan Nolan directs the first three episodes, Graham Wagner is the co-showrunner, and the series stars “Yellowjacket” actress Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten (“Emancipation”), and Walton Goggins.
The series cast also includes Moisés Arias (“The King of Staten Island”), Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”), Sarita Choudhury (“Homeland”), Michael Emerson (“Person of Interest”), Leslie Uggams (“Deadpool”), Frances Turner (“The Boys”), Dave Register (“Heightened”), Zach Cherry (“Severance”), Johnny Pemberton (“Ant-Man”), Rodrigo Luzzi (“Dead Ringers”), Annabel O’Hagan (“Law & Order: SVU”), and Xelia Mendes-Jones (“The Wheel of Time”).
The teaser reveals more of the series’ signature characters and elements, including The Ghoul, as well as its vaults, mysterious Wasteland, and the Brotherhood of Steel.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. Two hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.
“Fallout” will premiere on Prime Video on April 12, 2024. Watch the first teaser trailer below.
