Snape’s origin story in the Harry Potter franchise is heartbreakingly portrayed in Pixar-style art, showcasing his unrequited love for Lily, Harry’s mother. The art emphasizes the tragic aspects of Snape’s story, portraying an exaggerated version of his proposal to Lily and her rejection, which never actually happened. The artwork adds a more romanticized and heartbreaking lens to Snape’s complicated origins, showing the depth of his love for Lily and the lingering effects of his resentment towards James.
Harry Potter art tells Severus Snape’s heartbreaking origin story in Pixar-style animation. The Harry Potter franchise follows the eponymous boy wizard during his adventures at Hogwarts. However, one of the obstacles he faces in his wizarding journey is Snape. In both the books and the film series, Snape abhors Harry. As the story progresses, he seemingly takes on a more villainous role, but a final twist proves he is more of an anti-hero than a villain. Additionally, his origin story explains his resentment of Harry.
Some Pixar-style art shared by @hogwarts.station shows Snape’s Harry Potter origin story in a new light, and the results are quite heartbreaking. Check out the artwork below:
The series of art shows Snape’s budding relationship with Lily, the woman who would become Harry’s mother, during their days at Hogwarts. Despite his love for her, she rejects him, leaving him alone and heartbroken. He watches her budding romance with Harry’s father, James, from afar before tearfully setting out on his own.
Severus Snape’s Harry Potter Origin Story Explained
The Pixar art takes a more sympathetic and tragic approach to Snape’s origins in Harry Potter. In the art, Snape proposes to Lily before she rejects him and moves on with James. This is an exaggeration of the story, as their relationship never actually progressed past friendship and didn’t involve a proposal.
In the Harry Potter films and books, it is revealed that Snape and Lily were friends while attending Hogwarts as students. Snape was very much in love with Lily, but she didn’t share his romantic feelings. She viewed him solely as a friend, but things grew increasingly bitter between them due to Lily’s relationship with James. Their friendship eventually ended due to James bullying Snape. However, Snape never let go of his feelings for Lily or his grudge against James. This is why, though he mourned her death for his whole life, he also treated her son terribly.

Snape’s love story with Lily is often romanticized, as his love for her never waned despite the passage of time. This romanticization leads to some parts of his origin story often being left out of fan art. For example, the Pixar art presents the misconception that Lily outright rejected Snape and also glosses over how his misplaced anger towards her over James’ bullying ultimately ended their friendship. Some also question whether Snape’s infatuation was romantic or too extreme. The Harry Potter art further adds to Snape’s complicated story by highlighting the more heartbreaking and romantic aspects of his origins.
