Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Story Has Been Seen on TV Before

While The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard promises to offer new information from Blanchard herself, this isn’t the first time her story has been seen on television. HBO produced a feature length documentary titled Mommy Dead and Dearest, which was released in 2017. The Act also premiered in 2019 on Hulu, and was a fictionalized account of Blanchard’s story that starred Joey King in the lead role. When Gypsy Rose Blanchard spoke to People Magazine, she expressed regret for the murder of her mother, which saw her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, stab Dee Dee Blanchard several times, causing her death.
