Production on the eight-episode second season of the Mayfair Witches is off and running in New Orleans, and Alexandra Daddario returns in the lead role of Rowan Fielding. Ted Levine of The Silence of the Lambs and Monk fame is joining the witchy fun as a recurring guest star, while Thora Birch (Hocus Pocus, American Beauty, Now and Then) has also signed on as a guest star.

Alyssa Jirrels joins the Mayfair Witches as a series regular in season two, and the actress plays Rowan’s cousin: Moira Mayfair. Levine and Birch will also portray Mayfairs: Julien and Gifford respectively. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, a release date for season two hasn’t been announced yet.

Lastly, the President of Entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks, Dan McDermott, provided an update for the third series, which is based on the Talamasca appearing in Rice’s written works. McDermott said (via The Hollywood Reporter):

“Beyond the existing shows, we’re actively developing a potential third series in this expanding franchise, with the incomparable John Lee Hancock crafting a story based on Rice’s captivating Talamasca society.”

McDermott also said:

“The beloved world created by Anne Rice continues to be a vast and exciting source of story and character for us to explore, develop and bring to life on screen. We look forward to sharing second seasons of both Interview and Mayfair, two visually stunning productions that feature exciting new elements from Rice’s novels, with an audience and fanbase that have embraced these series and unforgettable characters from the beginning.”

Interview with the Vampire can be seen on AMC and AMC+ beginning Sunday, May 12.
