Summary
Hamilton’s excitement about joining
Stranger Things
Season 5 is shadowed by feeling like an outsider in a world she once loved.
Becoming part of the cast has ruined the immersive experience of watching the series as a fan, leading her to skip Season 5.
Hamilton’s commitment to secrecy not only extends to her role on the show but also to her personal life, adding to the anticipation.
Linda Hamilton, known for her memorable performances in science fiction films, is gearing up to appear in the eagerly awaited concluding season of Stranger Things. While fans are thrilled to see her step into the mysterious world of Hawkins, Indiana, Hamilton herself has mixed feelings about her involvement in the series.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Hamilton shared her excitement about being part of the beloved show but also revealed an unexpected downside. The actress disclosed that her role in the final season has, unfortunately, marred her experience of Stranger Things, a show she has cherished from its outset. The immersive experience of watching from the sidelines, without knowing what comes next, has been a key part of her enjoyment. Being in the cast has caused her to feel a sense of disconnection from the story she used to cherish as a viewer. Hamilton shared:
“I’ve watched every season with relish. I just love it … So it’s kind of, like, imposter syndrome where I don’t [feel that I] fit in there. That’s a whole world set in the ’80s. When you really buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So I think in a way, it kind of ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project], once I’m in something … It would just completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So I won’t be watching [Season 5].”

Hamilton’s comments highlight the unique challenges actors face when they become part of a project they admire. She mentioned that her appearance on screen breaks the show’s illusion of reality, making it challenging for her to watch the series with the same involvement. As a result, she plans to skip watching the fifth season to preserve her fond memories of the earlier episodes.
The Thrill and Mystery of Linda Hamilton’s Role in Stranger Things Season 5
Despite this, Hamilton’s enthusiasm for her role is undeniable. She spoke about the thrill of diving into the ’80s-set world of Stranger Things, even though it evokes a sense of imposter syndrome for her. The actor commended Ross and Matt Duffer, the creators of the show, for their meticulous approach to the storyline and characters. She explained that in her early discussions with the Duffer brothers, they only gave her a basic idea of her character, keeping the wider narrative a secret to uphold the element of surprise. Hamilton revealed:
“I Zoomed [creators] Ross and Matt Duffer, and they gave me the shape of the character, but not of the story. Because they have to be very careful with their story. So I still don’t know how it ends,” the actor confessed. “And it takes a lot of discipline to not know where it’s going to go. But that’s to protect it from all of the people that want to know.”
Hamilton’s commitment to secrecy extends to her personal life, as she refrains from sharing any details about the plot with her friends, out of respect for the creators’ vision. This discipline adds to the anticipation surrounding the final season, as even those close to the production remain in the dark about how the story will conclude.
As the production of Stranger Things Season 5 progresses towards its anticipated 2025 release, there’s growing curiosity among fans about the role Hamilton’s character will play in the show’s elaborate story. Her inclusion in the series will undeniably add an extra layer of intrigue, even though it may compromise her enjoyment as a fan.
