Kathryn Hahn Says Fans Will Be ‘Surprised’

Feb 26, 2024

This past weekend saw red carpets for the SAG Awards and Spirit Awards and, frankly, some stars are running out of things to say. Thankfully, Kathryn Hahn was a presenter at the former and willing to talk about her upcoming Marvel Studios series, “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.” A spin-off of the Emmy Award-winning “WandaVision” which will arrive on Disney+ on September 19.

Speaking to ETOnline, Hahn noted, “I wish I could tell you anything. I can tell you that it’s pretty fan…fabulous, I’m going to say that. I was going to say fantastic but then I decided to go with fabulous.”
While the plotline is being kept locked down for now, the series reportedly begins with Agatha breaking out of the spell she’s been trapped in by Wanda Maximoff at the end of “WandaVision.” She’s shocked to discover she’s powerless and enlists the help of some unlikely friends to gain her abilities back.
The cast includes Aubrey Plaza as Rio, Joe Locke as Wiccan (or eventually), Patti LuPone as Lilia, Sasheer Zamata as Jen K, and Ali Ahn as Alice. Emma Caulfield Ford and Debra Jo Rupp will reprise their roles (in some form) from “WandaVision.” Maria Dizzia, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Okwui Okpokwasili are also in the ensemble.
Hahn noted, “It’s an amazing cast. I’m in awe of everyone’s work in this show and I think people are going to be surprised. “I think they’re gonna think it’s one way and, of course, it’s gonna go a million different avenues kinda like ‘WandaVision.’”
Created by Jac Schaeffer, the series is reported to have more songs in it than “WandaVision” (LuPone didn’t realize she was in a superhero series). The Oscar and Tony-Award-winning tandem of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who won an Emmy for “Agatha All Along,” are back or new songs as is composer Christophe Beck. Schaeffer, Gandja Monteiro, and Rachel Goldberg are among the reported episode directors.
