Charlie Cox Confirms Deborah Ann Woll & Elden Henson’s Return
Mar 14, 2024
Given all the paparazzi photos out there, which obviously spoil a lot of movie secrets and thus we try and avoid them, it’s probably the worst kept secret in the world for Marvel, but yes, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are returning for the Marvel series, “Daredevil: Born Again” which has been shooting for most of this year.
Charlie Cox, who stars as Matt Murdoch and the superhero Daredevil, recently confirmed the news to Collider, but again, fans who are eagle-eyed on social media probably know this as ancient news.

For context, Woll and Henson, who played Karen Page and Franklin “Foggy” Nelson in the original Netflix series—two key characters in the comics as well—weren’t initially in “Daredevil: Born Again.” But when the show was shut down last year during the actor’s and writer’s strikes and heavily retooled creatively, Marvel had a change of heart and decided to bring the characters back, suggesting the events of “Daredevil: Born Again” are now much more closely tied to the Netflix iteration of “Daredevil” than initially thought.

“Yeah, it was pretty heartbreaking when they weren’t around initially,” Cox said about Woll and Henson not being included in the series at first. “When we came back to filming and they had made some changes, which you guys obviously probably read about and stuff, you know, it was clear that Foggy and Karen are kind of the heartbeat of our show. They always were. So [it feels] really special to have them back. Huge shout out to Deborah and to Elden. I know there’s been photos; there were some set photos that came out, so I know I can talk about it because it’s on the internet. But it was really sweet to have some scenes together again.”
In the new iteration of “Daredevil: Born Again,” which seemingly uses some story elements of the original production but obviously changed and expanded, Dario Scardapane serves as showrunner, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as lead directors, the latter two known for working on “Loki” and “Moon Knight.”
The series will include several cast members from the original Netflix series, including Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin (who already appeared in the “Hawkeye” and “Echo” series) and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, also from the Netflix iteration of Marvel. Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Sandrine Holt, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Clark Johnson, Arty Froushan, Zabryna Guevara, and Wilson Bethel are also names among the cast.
Initially, it was thought that several of these Netflix characters would return for Marvel Studios versions of the series but would be separate and distinct, maybe more like multiverse variants where the original stories weren’t canon. But given the shift and the fact that all the Netflix series are now on Disney+ and listed on the official Marvel timelines, it’s believed that most of the series is as close to Marvel canon as can be, some missing characters or recasting as smaller expectations.
“Daredevil: Born Again” is not expected until 2025. Disney chief Bob Iger has adopted a more-is-less approach for Marvel going forward, and the only additional live-action series arriving this year is “Agatha” starring Kathryn Hahn, previously known as “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.”
Marvel seems to be pulling back on greenlighting new shows as well, so the only live-action series that may arrive next year is “Daredevil: Born Again,” “Ironheart,” led by Dominque Thorne, and “Wonder Man” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Beyond that, no new series have either been announced or have gone into production, so it’s possible that 2026 could be a little scarce for Marvel Television beyond animated shows.
