Rom-Com Starring Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove & Benjamin Bratt Hits Netflix On May 9

Apr 4, 2024

Are rom-coms on the resurgence? If they are, Netflix is ahead of the pack with several new ones out on the streamer this year already. “Players,” “Irish Wish, and “The Heartbreak Agency” didn’t fare too well with critics, but “One Day” did, so maybe that means “Mother Of The Bride” could a sleeper hit for the streamer this Spring.

And as far as rom-com plots go, “Mother Of The Bride” is as safe as it gets.  Brooke Shields stars a Mom whose daughter turns from abroad engaged, only to find out she’s marrying the son of a man who broke her heart years ago. Does that spell a disaster for her daughter or a second chance for her?
Here’s the official synopsis for “Mother Of The Bride,” courtesy of Netflix:
Lana’s daughter Emma returns from abroad and drops a bombshell: she’s getting married. In Thailand. In a month! Things only get worse when Lana learns that the man who captured Emma’s heart is the son of the man who broke hers years ago.
Along with Shields, “Mother Of The Bride” also stars Miranda Cosgrove, Sean Teale, Chad Michael Murray, Rachel Harris, and Benjamin Bratt. Michael McDonald, Wilson Cruz, Tasneem Roc, and Dalip Sondhi also stars.
Mark Waters directs a script by Robin Bernheim Burger.  Brad Krevoy produces. Shields leads executive producers with Burger, Oliver Ackermann, Galen Fletcher, Amanda Phillips, Jimmy Townsend, and Vince Balzano.
