Jean Smart And Hannah Einbinder Are Back At It
Apr 16, 2024
It’s been two long years, but “Hacks” is finally back for a third season. The breakout Max series was originally intended to return in 2023, but health issues and multiple strikes pushed that back a year Now, two-time Emmy winner Jean Smart (she has five overall) and Emmy nominee Hannah Einbinder find their characters at a crossroads. Or, at least, that’s what the brand-new trailer you can find in this post is teasing.

We’re embargoed from revealing anything from the upcoming nine-episode season but the official Max logline for season three is as follows: “A year after parting, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava (Hannah Einbinder) pursues new opportunities back in Los Angeles.” Needless to say, Max and show creators and showrunners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky are keeping this year’s primary storyline close to the vest. We will tease it “could” take the snow in a very intriguing new direction.
Smart and Einbinder are joined this season by returning cast members Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo. Some of the buzzworthy guest stars include J. Smith-Cameron, Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, George Wallace, Tony Goldwyn, and Aristotle Athari. And, yes, season one hunk Johnny Sibilly shows up for a hot minute, too.
As in previous seasons, “Hacks” will roll out two episodes a week. The first two will drop on Thursday, May 2, with two new episodes every week up until May 30, when the finale will air on its lonesome.
“Hacks” is practically a lock for a third Comedy Series nomination, with “The Bear,” “Abbott Elementary,” and “Only Murders in the Building” the only other guaranteed players in the eight-nominee field.
