Loki’s Sophia Di Martino Shares Hopes for Her MCU Future
Apr 22, 2024
Sophia Di Martino, better known as Sylvie in Loki Season 2, recently opened up about her aspirations and uncertainties regarding her future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With no official confirmation from Marvel Studios about a third season of Loki on Disney+, questions about the continuation of her character linger.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Di Martino expressed a robust enthusiasm for her role and the potential narratives that could unfold. Reflecting on her character’s future, she focused on Sylvie’s commitment to fighting for freewill, a theme central to her storyline. Di Martino said:
”
I think, at this point, if anything comes back to threaten freewill in general, I feel like Sylvie will be there to fight the good fight. It kind of depends where the story goes, where the bigger picture goes.
No one knows, but Kevin Feige! Yeah, I mean, she could go anywhere. Again, the possibilities are limitless. That’s what’s so exciting about it. You just never know.”
Loki Release Date June 9, 2021 Seasons 2 Studio Disney+, Marvel Studios Franchise Marvel
Following the dramatic finale of Loki Season 2, where Tom Hiddleston’s character ascends to become the God of Stories, the possible storylines for Sylvie became broader. Di Martino touched on the likelihood of Sylvie reuniting with Loki. She opined that their deep connection makes it improbable they’d never cross paths again. She stated:
I feel like the two are definitely connected, so that’s always going to be the case. I mean, it would be weird if they never saw each other again, right?
Beyond the reunion with Loki, Di Martino wanted Sylvie to encounter other significant figures from the MCU, notably Thor. Imagining a meeting with Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, she remarked on the potential richness of the interaction, especially if Loki were involved.
It would be fun to see them get wound up, especially if Loki is in the equation. Three siblings together? The dynamic would be interesting.
Tom Hiddleston Discusses the Challenges Loki and Thor Face Reuniting
Tom Hiddleston once discussed the potential reunion of Loki and Thor on screen during an interview with ComicBook. He reflected on how both characters have embarked on deep personal journeys, confronting their pasts and questioning their identities and desires. Hiddleston said:
“I think both Thor and Loki have had to excavate and analyze the past and who they feel they really are and what they really want. But what’s interesting about family as well, this is just me thinking about it, is sometimes it will be difficult to let go of the preconception of who they used to be.”

Hiddleston thinks that Loki and Thor’s reunion might be laden with misaligned expectations and misunderstandings, owing to their long separation and the persistent memories each holds of the other. He further added:
“Loki might be expecting Thor to behave in a certain way or be a certain way. Thor might be expecting Loki to be a certain way. So I think initially it would be really confusing, but also they’d been apart for a long time and no doubt they’ve been objects in each other’s mind. And so yeah, I think I wonder a reunion would likely be, we’ll see.”
Loki
series is available to stream on Disney+.
