franchises, with new seasons and movies on the horizon.

The Boys star Antony Starr has weighed in on the raging debate over who would win in a superpowered battle to the death, Homelander or Superman. Responding to the recent declaration from his co-star Jack Quaid that the Man of Steel would emerge victorious, Starr bats this idea back, stating that Homelander “would kick Superman’s ass.”

“Oh, really? Is that what he thinks? Here’s why Homelander would kick Superman’s ass. There’s no Kryptonite factor, and Homie would fight so dirty. He’s the [type to go], “Oh, you got me!” as he goes down and then comes up and throws sand in your eyes. He’s a dirty dude, man. Whereas Superman is always like, “Oh, I wouldn’t do that. Oh, there’s innocent children that might get hurt.” Homie’s going to human shield himself with the kids.”

Laying down an unsurprisingly dark and brutal strategy for Homelander while speaking with Screen Rant, Starr believes it is the supervillain’s ruthlessness that would see him win the day. Of course, Superman fans are sure to have something to say about that…

The Boys Release Date July 26, 2019 Seasons 4 Studio Amazon Studios

Quaid, who stars alongside Starr in The Boys as well as voicing Superman in the animated series My Adventures with Superman, recently declared that (no doubt to the relief of the world) Superman would win if ever up against Homelander. Check out what he had to say about this clash of the titans below…

“He has to, right? Like if he doesn’t, we’re all in trouble. I think my particular version of Superman has a lot of growing to do, and he still needs to discover some more of the powers that we all know are in there but give him a few seasons, and he can take Homelander, for sure.”

There Is a Lot for the Boys & Superman Fans to Look Forward To…

While we may never see this play out for real in live-action, both The Boys and Superman fans have a lot to look forward to from the respective superhero franchises. The Prime Video series, which is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has now been renewed for a fifth season, with a fourth season all set to begin on June 13, 2024.

Starring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara as the titular vigilantes and Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, and Nathan Mitchell as the main line-up of supes, The Boys has been a huge success for the streaming platform, expanding into the spinoff series Gen V, which itself has been renewed for a second season.

As for the Man of Steel, The Politician star David Corenswet will suit up as the DC icon for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU next year. Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman will also star Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Skyler Gisondo, Nicholas Hoult, and is due to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.

Superman (2025) Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman is the first movie in Warner Bros.’ rebooted DC Universe to center around the titular comic book hero. It introduces a new version of the Man of Steel after Henry Cavill’s departure from the role, honoring the character’s roots as “the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way.”Release Date July 11, 2025 Distributor(s) Warner Bros. Pictures
