Netflix Teases ‘Minecraft,’ ‘Motel Transylvania,’ ‘Twilight Of The Gods,’ ‘Spellbound’
Jun 6, 2024
Netflix invited members of the press to their impressive Tudum Theater in Hollywood this morning to preview some of their new animated series and feature films. While some of the news was embargoed (including a very funny Nick Kroll reminding everyone of this fact as Lola from “Big Mouth”), the streaming giant does have some things to share. Notably, the Adam Sandler animated Sony Pictures feature franchise “Hotel Transylvania” is being turned into a new animated Netflix series, “Motel Transylvania,” the Skydance animated feature “Spellbound” will hit the service on Nov. 22, and both “Minecraft” and “Ghostbusters” are getting new animated series treatment.

Frankly, the biggest news out of the entire day was just how busy Netflix is keeping Sony Pictures Animation. Good news for anyone with Sony Group stock.
Additionally, Timothy Olyphant was revealed to be the Terminator in “Terminator Zero,” an animated series arriving on August 29, the new “Wallace & Gromit” movie is officially titled “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl: Vengeance Most Fowl” and arriving “This Winter” (pay attention awards watchers), and a first look at Zack Snyder’s “Twilight of the Gods” (which was poorly animated).
The English language cast for “The Imaginary,” a Yoshiyuki Momose-directed film that has already been released in Japan, includes Hayley Atwell, Jeremy Swift, Kal Penn, and LeVar Burton. It arrives on the service on July 5. Moreover, the cast for Phil Johnston’s upcoming feature “The Twits” includes Natalie Portman, Emilia Clarke, Margo Martindale, and Johnny Davis.
“Spellbound” star Nathan Lane was on hand and wonderfully went off script wondering why everyone was there at 10 AM, Snyder and Deborah Snyder were there to tease a “sexy” “Twilight of the Gods,” Craig Robinson discussed his roles in 2025’s “In Your Dreams” and “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie,” and the entire morning was emceed by “Ultraman: Rising” star and, as we were reminded, April Playgirl cover model Christopher Sean.
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the entire presentation was an animation test for the future Skydance Animation Feature “Pooko.”
