Donald Glover and Maya Erskine have now hinted that they could return for more banter and action in the second season of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. While reports at the time claimed that they would not be back for season 2, during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the pair addressed the ongoing rumors and teased that things may not be quite as they seem…

Glover began by saying that, should they reveal the situation and this spoil the first season’s cliffhanger ending, it would be like ruining Christmas.

“You know, don’t know, I feel like everybody wants…it’s like Christmas where the kids, like, it’s like November 28 and the kids know there’s a Christmas present and they’re like ‘mom where’s the Christmas present?’”

After Kimmel suggested that it’s far more like it’s November 28 and the kids don’t know if Santa is even coming, to which Glover replied that if you tell everyone he is, then you might “ruin the feeling of Christmas.” Kimmel, though, kept pressing the issue, to which Glover’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Maya Erskine replied…

“It’ll be more fun if you see the second season. You know, you wanna wait.”

Finally, Glover responded to the idea that they are not in Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2 by continuing to be as vague as possible…while also teasing that something could well be in store when the show returns.

“Who says we’re not in it? Maybe we are. Maybe we aren’t.”

Inspired by the 2005 film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Amazon Prime Video’s spy series Mr. & Mrs. Smith has now been officially renewed for a second season, with the studio excited to bring audiences more of the action series. The first season of Mr. & Mrs. Smithwas met with critical acclaim and currently stands at 90% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, as well as becoming one of the steaming platform’s biggest new series debuts ever in the United States.
