Bruce Timm Returns With A New Animated Series Coming To Prime Video This August
Jun 26, 2024
For many superhero fans, the best version of a TV series or film based on a comic book is none other than “Batman: The Animated Series” from the ‘90s. That series blew the minds of kids and adults alike by taking the source material seriously and presenting some of the best storytelling you’ll ever see involving capes and cowls. And since then, a variety of animated series have attempted to recapture that magic, but none have. But “Batman: Caped Crusader” might be the project we’ve all been waiting for.

As seen in the trailer for “Batman: Caped Crusader,” the series is a new take on the Batman mythos. In this series, we’re presented a period tale where “The Bat-Man” is starting to cause waves in Gotham City and everyone is trying to figure out if he’s a friend or foe. Honestly, the trailer perfectly showcases why this looks like a winning series. The animation is top-notch, the voice acting is great, and the storytelling looks to be that magical mix of adult and family-friendly.
The voice cast includes Hamish Linklater as Batman, Christina Ricci as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jamie Chung as Harley Quinn, and Diedrich Bader as Harvey Dent. The series is a return for producer Bruce Timm, who is one of the creative masterminds of the famous ‘90s animated series.
“Batman: Caped Crusader” debuts on Prime Video on August 1. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.
