THE SKELETON CREW Creator Says Hover Bikes Were Integral to Telling the Story — GeekTyrant

Aug 7, 2024

More information is coming out for Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew, as creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford also say that including hover bikes were “integral to telling the story of childhood adventure — not only for the audience tuning in but also for the child actors involved.”Watts says of the bikes: “They had like little bikes and they were on rails, and so they’d like slide back and forth and left and right [so] they could turn and bank.”Ford then recalls watching “guys in full green screen suits” helping out in the background. Watts added: “In reality, it looks completely insane and for the kids, the main direction was, ‘Stop smiling!’ because they were having so much fun.”With the movie previously being compared to the Amblin films of the ‘80s like ET and The Goonies, it makes sense that bikes would have to be involved with the story. Only, in this case, they’re hover bikes. It’s pretty much required that kids have gotta have bikes when embarking on a crazy adventure! The series has been described as ”a galactic version of classic Amblin coming of age adventure films of the ’80s.” The story will follow four young kids from a tiny little planet, and they end up getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way back home. The adventure that they find themselves on is said to be an intense and dark journey. In the story, four kids make “a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be a great adventure than they ever imagined.”Jude Law stars in the film and he’s joined by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The episodes in the show will be directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, The Daniels, David Lowery, Jake Schreier, and Lee Isaac Chung. The Mandalorian’s Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will executive produce. The series is set to premiere on Disney+ by this Christmas. Source: People Magazine
