Reacher Season 2 is Released on Blu-ray and DVD in September

Aug 24, 2024

Reacher fans will get a big piece of their action hero this September as Season 2 of Prime Video’s colossal hit heads to physical home media. Reacher’s second season may not have been the fan-pleaser Season 1 was, but it’s definitely a wild ride. And, along with James Gunn’s Peacemaker, it shows that Robert Patrick is still one of the most reliable go-tos for a villainous character in the business. But, of course, it’s really Alan Ritchson’s show, and once again he dominated each of his scenes.

On September 17, aficionados and general fans of the Prime Video adaptation of Lee Child’s hulking literary character can pick up Season 2 on Blu-ray, DVD, and made-to-order 4K UHD. The critically-praised second season was an adaptation of Child’s eleventh book, Bad Luck and Trouble. The plot followed U.S. Army M.P. Jack Reacher as he and the few remaining members of his team seek the party responsible for picking them off one-by-one.

Despite Season 2 taking a dip in public opinion, with several complaints about sloppy dialogue and unconvincing acting, the show proved to be an even bigger hit the second time around. The debut of the new episodes at the end of 2023 saw the show become Prime Video’s highest performing series of the year, despite only being available for a few days before the turn of the year. Based on that kind of performance, there is little doubt that Reacher is here to stay.

What’s Next for Ritchson’s Reacher?

Reacher Season 3 will be an adaptation of the seventh book, Persuader, which, like the first season’s source material, the debut novel The Killing Floor, is a more linear crowd-pleaser than Bad Luck and Trouble. Persuader follows Reacher as he teams up with the DEA to investigate drug smuggler Zachary Beck. To do so, they stage a kidnapping of Beck’s son, so Reacher can save the day and get in Beck’s good graces.

The new season seems set to follow the book to the letter, so we won’t go into too much detail and spoil it for anyone. Needless to say, the latest outing will once again put Ritchson’s hero in the kind of situation that many would not be able to get out of. But we know how this works by now…Jack Reacher will return next time for another adventure, so it’s not a question of whether he survives, but all about how he survives.

For Reacher fans, the Season 2 release is not the only good news. On October 22, Lee Child will release his 29th Jack Reacher novel, In Too Deep, which is another collaboration between Child and his brother, Andrew. That story will find Reacher injured and handcuffed, stripped of what few possessions he carries. His memory’s foggy except for recalling his last hitchhiking ride being totaled, and the driver being killed. His captors think Reacher’s the killer, and he has to clear the air…violently.

Reacher
Season 3 will be released on Prime Video early in 2025.
