So who should “Black Mirror” fans expect in next year’s six new episodes? Brace yourselves, this is a long list: Awkafina, Milanka Brooks, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Osy Ikhile, Rashida Jones, Sienna Kelly, Billy Magnussen, Mosey McEwen, Cristin Milioti, Chris O’Dowd, Issa Rae, Paul G. Raymond, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jimmi Simpson, and Harriet Walter all feature in the show’s upcoming season. But despite the casting announcement, who any of these actors play in Season 7 remains under wraps. As per usual, Charlie Brooker‘s series has a shroud of secrecy around it, and the creator isn’t not giving away anything unless he does so deliberately.
And Brooker did just that earlier this year when he teased that a sequel to one of his show’s most acclaimed episodes will happen in Season 7. That’s right, Season 4’s kickoff “USS Callister” episode will get a follow-up next year, which Netflix teased at a London event in March. “USS Callister will return… Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning. The original S4 episode, which won an Emmy, stars Jesse Plemons, Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, and Michaela Coel, so bet that Milioti returns for the sequel episode. Brooker wrote the episode, which stars Plemons as the bitter co-founder of an MMO game who uses his co-worker’s DNA to create sentient clones of them within a simulation; obviously, this leads to some bad consequences.
So will there another classic episode of “Black Mirror” in Season 7? That cast list is promising, Netflix subscribers won’t find out until the six new episodes premiere sometime in 2025. Brooker leads executive producers on “Black Mirror” with Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones. The show is produced by Brooker and Jones’ Broke & Bones banner, with Banijay Rights distributing.
