Agatha All Along Nude Scene Was Kathryn Hahn’s Idea
Sep 27, 2024
The latest entry in the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe has arrived with Agatha All Along, which features the second-ever instance of nudity in the franchise. In the series’ debut episode, viewers are treated to a shot of Agatha’s backside, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn, and it’s the first time we’ve seen a female character’s butt in the MCU. Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder gave fans their first look at a butt in the MCU during a brief scene when Thor is brought in front of the gods.
Bringing a little nudity into the picture was Hahn’s idea, according to executive producer Jac Schaeffer. She explained in an interview with TV Line that Hahn was more than willing to do it and that it’s not meant to be sexual in any way.
“It was Kathryn’s idea,” she said. “In the script, the idea was that she would, you know, emerge from the spell naked because, you know, that’s very witchy and that she’s taken all of her performative selves off.”
Initially, Agatha was going to grab a robe to cover herself up, but Schaeffer explained that Hahn came to her and questioned if the character would do that. Both seemingly agreed she wouldn’t, and the end result was Agatha walking naked back to her house. No, Hahn did not use a body double for the scene.
Before the show could go along with the idea, they had to first get the go-ahead from the big boss Kevin Feige. As viewers may have guessed after seeing the scene play out in the show, Feige was more than up for the idea.
Agatha All Along is setting up future plot points for the MCU
While some of the Marvel Disney+ shows have been self-contained, like Echo, Agatha All Along seems set to connect to the greater universe. Aubrey Plaza’s character Rio Vidal is already rumored to show up in future projects, so fans of hers are likely to have more to look forward to.
Agatha All Along is set up as a miniseries, so if the show plans to introduce additional plot points that develop further from the show, it only has eight episodes to do so. MCU insider Daniel Richtman simply said that Plaza will show up in future entries on his Patreon. What that means for the other characters in the show remains to be seen, but Marvel has proven simply by the existence of the show in the first place is that popular and viral characters find ways to return.
Both Hahn and Plaza starred in Parks and Recreation, but the pair never actually worked together. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hahn said it was fun to finally get the chance to work with Plaza.
“We had never had any scenes together in Parks & Rec,” she said. “I think we passed each other in hallways, but for this to be the first time we really worked together was incredible. I just think she’s such an extraordinary actor. And to be able to play with her like this was so fun.”
New episodes of
