J.D. Vance Targeted Ahead of VP Debate in Madison Square Garden Ads

Oct 2, 2024

New digital ads targeting J.D. Vance went up outside Madison Square Garden on Tuesday ahead of the vice presidential debate.

The digital ads, which went live the morning of the anticipated debate between Vance and Tim Walz, cheer on Kamala Harris‘ running mate, while calling out Trump’s vice presidential pick for being the “poster boy” for Project 2025, the controversial set of conservative policy proposals also known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project.

The ads include a QR code linking to TrumpsProject2025.com, where voters can learn about “how the dangerous, anti-freedom plan would radically impact their lives,” according to the Democratic National Committee release.

“As New Yorkers and Americans across the country tune into the VP debate, Democrats are previewing the split screen viewers will see on stage — Coach Walz vs. Project 2025 poster boy,” said DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin in a statement. “J.D. Vance is the least-liked VP candidate in modern American history, not just because he’s weird but because he’s plotting to ban abortion nationwide, rig the economy for the rich and put Trump ahead of our democracy.”

Adding, “The contrast in this election couldn’t be clearer: Governor Walz will stand side-by-side with Vice President Harris as they turn the page on Trump and Vance’s dark, Project 2025 plan for America and instead, chart a New Way Forward for all Americans.”

Airing live Tuesday night, CBS News’ 90-minute vice presidential debate between the Democratic and Republican candidates will be held nearby at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City. This marks the 2024 election cycle’s first and only vice presidential debate. (Head here for tune-in information.)
