Spider-Man 4 Rumored To Feature Symbiotes and Tom Hardy’s Venom
Oct 11, 2024
Marvel is no stranger to rumors, but that doesn’t make them any less fun to speculate about, especially when they begin to pick up steam. While we already know that Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Spider-Man 4 and that Tom Holland and Zendaya are scheduled to return, there is also a possibility that Holland will get to wear a very familiar black suit in future Spider-Man films that could also feature Tom Hardy’s Venom in the MCU.
Per the Cosmic Circus, which features an October Q&A with the site’s Alex Perez discussing upcoming Marvel projects, Perez – known for his Marvel scoops – was asked if he had any updates about Spider-Man 4, including if Holland would get the infamous symbiote suit in the fourth installment. In response to the question, Perez said, “I will get an answer for you soon. But as I understand it, Tom will get the symbiote suit in the next few years and keep it for the next couple of Spidey films.”
The rumors indicate that the symbiote will begin appearing in Spider-Man 4. Another question posed to Perez was if there were going to be more villains in the film, besides possibly Venom (played by Hardy in the Marvel Sony films) and Knull. Perez’s short answer to this was “More symbiotes.” This could set up Holland’s Spider-Man eventually getting the suit and allowing that story to take off. Other Spider-Man rumors touched on Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, with Perez saying, “I heard that there is a strong possibility they show up for an extended role this time around, given the setting of the Multiverse Saga.”
Will Tom Hardy Join The MCU as Venom?
With symbiotes rumored to play a role in Spider-Man 4, could that lead to Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom appearing in the MCU? When asked this question, Perez said, “TBD.” The actor has played the role since 2018’s Venom, and Holland had a cameo of sorts during a mid-credits scene in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage when Eddie is transported from a hotel room and sees footage of J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) speaking about Spider-Man’s true identity as Peter Parker. If anything, the scene was intended to show that Sony and Marvel Studios have an interest in linking these universes.
Related Venom 3 Box Office Forecast Suggests Tom Hardy Movie Could Set Monster Record If the projection holds true, Eddie Brock’s last outing could be the most profitable one yet.
Hardy recently said that the upcoming Venom: The Last Dance will be his final Venom film, but that doesn’t rule out the actor appearing in future MCU projects, especially if they concern the symbiote making its way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comic books, the symbiote first attached itself to Spider-Man during the Secret Wars limited series, released in 1984. The symbiote ultimately exposes itself as evil when connected to the Web-Slinger, leading him to eventually reject it, where it would then bond with Eddie Brock and become Venom. Given that Avengers: Secret Wars is set for release in 2027, signs seem to point to the symbiote potentially playing a role here, but, as of now, it’s all speculation.
Venom 3 is the third and final installment in Sony’s symbiote trilogy starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. It follows the events of Let There Be Carnage, where the anti-hero fought serial killer Cletus Kasady, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Brock was briefly transported to the MCU through the multiverse.
