Kelly Macdonald Has Joined The Cast Of DC Studios Series

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre might be the two leads of the forthcoming DC Studios live-action HBO series, “Lanterns,” but who else is going to be in the cast. Well, today we’ve found out one new name.

According to Variety, Kelly Macdonald has been cast in a supporting role in HBO’s upcoming superhero series, “Lanterns.” The report claims Macdonald will play the role of Sheriff Kerry, described as “a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface.”
Macdonald is a veteran actor who has been in numerous high profile films and TV series over the years. On the TV side of things, she’s been in shows such as “Giri/Haji,” “The Victim,” and “Black Mirror.” In film, Macdonald has appeared in films such as “No Country for Old Men,” “Gosford Park,” and “Brave.”READ MORE: ‘Lanterns’: Veteran TV Director James Hawes Brought In To Helm The First Two Episodes
As mentioned, Macdonald joins a cast that already includes Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler, who play John Stewart and Hal Jordan, respectively, the two Green Lanterns. For those not familiar with the comics, the Green Lantern Corps. is an intergalactic group of heroes who use powerful green rings to protect innocent folks. They’re basically space cops. “Lanterns” sees two of the Green Lanterns coming to Earth to investigate a crime.
There’s no release date set for “Lanterns,” but a 2026 release date is expected.
