Casey Bloys Says Zendaya And Jacob Elrodi Will Make The January Start Date
Nov 12, 2024
Casey Bloys, the Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, would like to make something very clear: “Euphoria” season 3 is happening. Speaking to assembled members of the press during an HBO and Max preview in Los Angeles this morning, Bloys said any rumors to the contrary are false. And not only that, it will not be a shortened season. Eight new episodes are coming, the same as the previous two seasons.
“I don’t know where this started from,” Bloys says. “We are shooting ‘Euphoria.’ I think we have a start date mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. Somebody said something online and then kind of this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy, we’re moving ahead. All of the actors. I know the show gets a lot of attention now because it has created some genuine movie stars and they have various projects that they’re working on, but we are shooting this season, so nothing has changed.’
Since “Euphoria” became a breakout hit for HBO in 2019, stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney have all become genuine movie stars. Zendaya is already supposed to shoot Christopher Nolan‘s new film along with “Spider-Man 4” during the first half of 2025. Elrodi has Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” on deck, but since it is a Warner Bros. theatrical production, it should be easier to swap out if necessary. The prolific Sweeney also has Paul Feig’s “The Housemaid” on tap.

You don’t want to miss this.“As I said before, a lot of them became movie stars,” Bloys says. “And so we’ve had situations like this before where a lot of the cast has other projects. So, Janet [Graham Borba], who’s here, our head of production is very, very good at figuring out puzzles like this. So, it does require a lot of creative scheduling. But yes, everybody is expected to come back.”
Despite massive ratings, “Euphoria” has been plagued by controversies over the on-set conduct of creator and showrunner Sam Levinson. A third season was also substantially delayed because of Levinson’s involvement on HBO’s “The Idol,” which was even more of a creative mess. Sadly, the production also saw the unexpected passing of cast member Angus Cloud in July 2023. How his death will be explained in the upcoming season is unclear.
“Euphoria” last debuted a new episode in February, 2022.
“Euphoria” season one and two are available on Max
