‘Mythic Quest’ Season 4 and ‘Side Quest’ Spinoff Premiere Dates Announced

Nov 15, 2024

Game on, folks: after two years of waiting and anticipating, the fourth season of AppleTV+’s beloved nerdy workplace comedy, Mythic Quest, finally has a premiere date set in stone. In a new press release, Apple announced that the Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz-created show will premiere on Wednesday, January 29 with two episodes, followed by a weekly roll-out of the remaining eight episodes.

But not only that: the company also announced the subsequent anthology series, Side Quest, and its series premiere date, too: Wednesday, March 26 — the same day the finale of season four of Mythic Quest will hit the streamer. So grab your most magical accouterment, prepare yourself for battle, and get ready for some spells to be cast upon ye eyeballs (or something equally fantastical)! We’ve got a lot of gaming to do.

What Happened In ‘Mythic Quest’ Season Three?
For those who may not remember, season three of Mythic Quest saw Ian (McElhenney) and Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) going it alone, attempting to create a new game and garner some of that sweet, sweet Venture Capitalist funding to get it off the ground. Of course — spoiler alert — that isn’t at all what ends up happening, but the endeavor brings Poppy and Ian closer together than ever and helps them realize the magic held within their working relationship, warts and all.

The season ends with Poppy and Ian realizing there’s nothing to fix when it comes to their dynamic, bringing them back to their home at Mythic Quest to try and make the best out of the situation they’re already in. Though some fans found the season to tread water a bit, so to speak, where it ended sets the stage for an exciting return.

The series stars McElhenney, Nicdao, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis and Naomi Ekperigin. Season for will find our beloved crew of video game makers “under the same fluorescent office lights, as the reunited team at Mythic Quest confronts new challenges amongst a changing video game landscape.” The press release goes on to add that “as stars rise, egos clash, relationships bloom, and everyone tries to have a little more work work-life balance,” the team behind the most popular multiplayer video game in the world will have to come together in ways they haven’t before in order to keep the game and their sanity afloat.

Apple also released some new images from both series, which you can check out below:

Side Quest (formerly known as Mere Mortals) will be an expansion of the Mythic Quest universe, an anthology series exploring the lives of employees, players, and fans who are impacted by the game, similar to the much-beloved bottle episodes fans have previously seen in earlier seasons. Rob McElhenney, Anna Konkle, Derek Waters, William Stanford Davis, Bria Henderson, Rome Flynn, Leonard Robinson, Gary Kraus, Annamarie Kasper, Esai Morales, Shalta Grant, and many more will appear in the four-episode series, each seeming to be a standalone episode that connects to the larger world of the game.
