MCU’s ‘Wonder Man’ Series Will Run for 8 Episodes on Disney+
Nov 22, 2024
After much teasing from Marvel Studios, Wonder Man is finally making its way to Disney+, and Brad Winderbaum (Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Animation, and Television) has revealed how many episodes the series will run for. Fans got their first glimpse of the new series in a Marvel Television featurette released in October. As well as debuting Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Simon Williams, and the return of the MCU’s one true king, Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), the footage also revealed a release date — Wonder Man hits the streamer in December 2025.
Fans already know when to show up, but Winderbaum has finally clued us in on how long the show will run for on Disney+. Appearing on the Phase Hero podcast with Brandon Davis, Winderbaum cleared up some confusion about the show’s episode count. Earlier this year, Deadline reported that Wonder Man is 10 episodes long. However, Marvel Studios have finally picked a season length for the show. “Wonder Man is eight episodes. I think it’s an eight-episode series,” Winderbaum said.
Simon Williams made his Marvel Comics debut in The Avengers #9 in 1964. Flaunting his superpowers, Simon Williams bounced in and out of the Avengers line-up before moving to Los Angeles to become an actor. He used his indestructible body to become a stunt performer, and saw his Hollywood career grow from there. Plot details for the Wonder Man series are scarce, but we already know that Williams will be auditioning for a superhero movie called “Wonder Man,” which will likely spur him on to become the titular hero.
It should really go without saying, but a superhero show about a superhero actor who auditions for a superhero movie is by far the most meta story Marvel Studios have told so far. During the podcast, Winderbaum described the show as “a love letter to Hollywood.” While fans were excited to see the first official footage of Wonder Man in the new featurette, they were equally surprised when it featured the MCU’s most controversial “villain” to date. In hindsight, Trevor Slattery was destined to appear in a show about actors. Kingsley played the character in Iron Man 3, as Slattery was paid to imitate the Mandarin instead of Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian, who was the real villain of the movie.

Brad Winderbaum didn’t reveal much about the show’s plot. The executive even admitted that he’s really enjoying teasing fans and loves seeing us come up with our own predictions for what the series will be about. “It’s very fun to see people speculating about what they think the plot is. That is part of the fun of it.” But Winderbaum did reveal that Slattery will play a big part in the series, saying, “It’s kind of a two-hander between two amazing characters; this odd couple of Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery.” He wasn’t just being secretive for the fun of it, as the executive revealed he wasn’t allowed to give away too much because:
“[Kevin Feige]’s literally on the other side of this wall right now.”
