SKELETON CREW Director Says Series Will Bring Out the Inner Child in Adult Fans — GeekTyrant

Nov 25, 2024

We are just weeks away from the upcoming series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which is headed to Disney+. The series was created by Jon Watts (Spider-Man), and it follows the journey of four kids “who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet. They then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Jude Law. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”The show’s director, David Lowery, sat down with ComicBook to promote his upcoming animated short An Almost Christmas Story, and he was asked how he thinks fans will react to the Star Wars series, as well as what makes it unique. He responded:“It’s a show that involves kids, and yes it will be very appealing to kids who get to see themselves in this. But when I was growing up, I aspired to be Luke Skywalker and Han Solo … I didn’t need a show about children to make me love Star Wars. But what I think this one is gonna do is remind adults like myself of what it was like to be a little kid watching Star Wars for the first time.”From the get-go, Skeleton Crew has been compared to classic Amblin Entertainment productions like E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial and The Goonies, tapping into that sense of ’80s nostalgia many fans have. It’s been a key focus of the marketing campaign, which was clear in the trailer released earlier this month. The series will premiere on Disney+ on December 3, 2024, with the first two episodes.
