‘Severance’ Podcast Is Happening With Ben Stiller & Adam Scott for Season 2
Nov 29, 2024
Dan Erickson’s sci-fi thriller series Severance made its mark nearly two years ago on Apple TV+, and with the second season set to premiere on January 17, 2025, there’s an extra treat in store for the fans—a companion podcast. The series’ director and executive producer, Ben Stiller, along with lead actor Adam Scott, will co-host The Severance Podcast, designed to address the burning questions and cliffhangers ahead of Season 2.
Launching on Audacy on January 7, 2025, the nine-episodic podcast will be released with its first two episodes, while the rest are released every weekday until Jan. 16. As a result, before viewers can dive back into the unsettling world of Lumon Industries, they have the opportunity to recap everything that has happened thus far, as well as gain some other insights. And the podcast won’t just be limited to the voices of Stiller and Scott, since several other guests involved in the production of Severance will appear in subsequent episodes. The podcast will also feature Dan Erickson (creator), Jackie Cohn (executive producer), Zach Cherry (as Dylan), Britt Lower (as Helly), and John Turturro (Irving). Additionally, celebrity superfans, like Jon Stewart, will join the podcast to share their unique perspectives on the show.
According to Variety, while announcing The Severance Podcast, Stiller and Scott issued a joint statement, emphasizing that the new project will not only prepare audiences for what comes next in Season 2, but will also explain the missing elements from Season 1. The statement reads as follows:
“We have severed ourselves from the world for five years making this show. While we have no memory of what happened during that time, we thought we should do a podcast for all the Innies who will have no recollection of watching, in an attempt to reintegrate them with their memory of the show. We’re happy not to be working with Lumon Industries on this podcast and instead to be bringing it to the world with Audacy Podcasts, who would never send us to the break room.”
‘Severance’ Season 2 Comes With High Stakes
In response to the statement, Audacy’s Pineapple Street Studios, which has previously hosted popular podcasts from successful franchises such as The Last of Us, House of the Dragon, and Succession, issued a statement of their own, with Jenna Weiss-Bernan (EVP of Audacy) expressing her enthusiasm for the Apple TV+ series. In her words:
“We’re huge fans of ‘Severance’ and of what Ben and Adam have created with this wholly original and thought-provoking series, and couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with them to go behind-the-scenes and into the world of Lumon. The Severance Podcast’ is a rich addition to the Audacy Podcasts slate and offers stellar content for listeners and exciting opportunities for clients.”

With Season 1 establishing the world of Lumon Industries and Mark’s personal struggles, the second season of Severance will cover a lot more ground. As a result, the upcoming season will focus more on Mark than ever before, taking a deep dive into his personal life, especially following the revelation of his wife, Gemma, who is not only alive but also working for Lumon under the alias Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman).
The majority of the main cast members, including Scott, Turturro, Cherry, Lower, and Lachman, will return for the new season, along with newcomers like Sarah Bock, Bob Balaban, John Noble, Robby Benson, and many more.
