HBO has been battling speculation that Euphoria will not be returning for a third and final season, but now the network has set a premiere date… sort of. During a tech and media conference held by Wells Fargo, Warner Bros. Discovery global streaming chief JB Perrette shared that the long-delayed season of the hit HBO series is expected to premiere in 2026 (via Variety).

Previous reports indicated that creator Sam Levinson and HBO were hopeful for a 2025 release. Just days ago, Colman Domingo – who portrays Rue’s (Zendaya) Narcotics Anonymous sponsor – said production for Euphoria Season 3 is anticipated to wrap in Summer 2025, with cameras expected to start rolling in January.

Euphoria has hit several production setbacks following its second season, including the tragic death of Angus Cloud, the Hollywood strikes, and the flourishing careers of its talented cast, including Domingo, Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney. The drama’s second series aired in early 2022, which means the show will return at least 4 years after its last season. It’s a good thing, then, that Euphoria will feature a time jump and see the former high schoolers navigating adulthood.

Coleman and Sweeney have both made comments indicating that they would return, and the rest of the main cast, including Hunter Schafer, Zendaya, Elordi, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow, is also expected to appear. There will be one notable absence, as Storm Reid, who portrayed Rue’s younger sister, Gia, recently confirmed that she would not be featured in the upcoming season. Despite her exit, the Emmy Award-winning actress is glad Euphoria is part of her legacy and excited to see the third season.

HBO in 2025: White Lotus, The Last of Us, and a Password Sharing Crackdown

According to the same report from Deadline, another of HBO’s award-winning series will return much sooner: The White Lotus’ third season will premiere in February. Other titles that will return in 2025 are The Last of Us and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Another thing viewers can expect in 2025? A crackdown on password sharing for Max:

“This is an art and a science of trying to figure out who is actually sharing versus who may be actually at their vacation home or on a business trip and and so it’s an art and a science,” Perrette said. “We will offer a way to essentially add a member, starting in the first quarter, we will then start gradually as we get the data, and start figuring out, with some explicit and implicit signals, how good we are at detecting. And then as we go through ’25, you’re going to see the filters get tighter and tighter.”

Seasons one and two of Euphoria, starring Zendaya, Elordi, Reid, Schafer, Sweeney, Apatow, the late Cloud, Eric Dane, Barbie Fereira, Demie, Nika King, and Coleman, are available to stream on Max.
