‘Agatha All Along’ May Be Over as Kathryn Hahn Calls the Series a Beautiful “Goodbye”

Dec 5, 2024

Despite some recent hints to the contrary, it seems that MCU villain Agatha Harkness may have, in fact, cast her last spell on Disney+ or anywhere else. In a recent interview with the LA Times, star Kathryn Hahn, who was first introduced as the captivating Agatha in the previous Marvel show, WandaVision, called her solo series Agatha All Along “a beautiful and satisfying way to say goodbye” to the character.

“Even though obviously now Billy/Wiccan is not her son, there is some sort of hope for her that she’s able to maybe do for him what she couldn’t do for Nicky. I think they do make a great team. Of course, I love this part and I love Joe Locke madly, and we’ll see what the future holds. In my mind, this was a beautiful and satisfying way to say goodbye to this incredible character I had to play.”

Considering that Agatha All Along was marketed as a limited series, and that the series ends with SPOILERS Agatha becoming a ghost, the final moments of the show did hint at more to come. Created by Jac Schaeffer, Agatha All Along has been a surprisingly huge hit for both the franchise and the streaming platform. The series was met with both critical acclaim and high viewership, landing a score of 84% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes (alongside 83% from audiences) and will fight for the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Emmy Awards.

Are We Getting ‘Agatha All Along’ Season 2 or Not?

In fact, it is that last part that makes Kathryn Hahn’s comments so surprising. While the actress seemingly confirms that the solo series was her final outing as Agatha Harkness, the show’s recent submissions for the various upcoming award events suggests otherwise. While Agatha All Along was marketed as a limited series (much like Loki before it), the show is being submitted in the “comedy” categories for the upcoming Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and the Emmy Awards under the Marvel Television Studios banner. Which, due to a technicality in the submission requirements, seemed to suggest that Agatha All Along would be getting a Season 2 as the show was not put forward in the limited series categories.
